The Voice of the Strings (Slo, Swe) is a blend of fine, intimate and archaic sounds created by two voices, violin and gothic harp. Zvezdana Novakovic, jazz and folksinger from Slovenia and Sofia Högstadius, classical and folk violinist from Sweden met for the first time on stage in Paris November 2011, both guesting the Slovenian group Terrafolk & Simbolic Orchestra. Each with a great love of Bulgarian traditional music, they both decided to move to Plovdiv, Bulgaria in September 2012 and they immediately started connecting each other’s musical expressions and exploring the sounds of their voices, strings and improvisation. Since 2012 The Voice of the Strings have been performing and leading workshops at different venues around in Bulgaria, Slovenia and Sweden.

The repertoir consists of music from all over the world; African lullabies, old English ballads, traditional songs from Sweden, Slovenia and Bulgaria, jazz, medieval music, minimalistic phrases that lead into an open improvised form…
